Financial Assistance

Support available for eligible applicants:

Rural Assistance Authority

This body provides access to loans, grants, rebates and subsidies for primary producers and small business operators.

Assistance available includes:

Farm Innovation Fund

A loan scheme for capital works to a value of $1 million (eg sheds, silos, water storage) for infrastructure works to prepare for dry conditions, to be more resilient and improve on-farm efficiency. Contact RAA on 1800 678 593 for more information.

Disaster Relief Loans

Natural disaster assistance is available to help those directly affected by flood, fire, storm damage or any other declared natural disaster.

Special Disaster Grants

The NSW and Australian Governments have announced Special Disaster Grants of up to $75,000 for primary producers who have been impacted by severe weather and flooding from 27 June 2022 onwards.

Rural Landholder Grants

The NSW and Australian Governments have announced grants of up to $25,000 for landholders who have been impacted by severe weather and flooding from 27 June 2022.

Transport Assistance

This subsidy is available to eligible farmers who are affected by a declared natural disaster event. This subsidy pays for the cost of transporting fodder and/or water to an affected property, stock to sale or slaughter, or stock to/from agistment.

Regional Investment Corporation

The Australian Government has established the Regional Investment Corporation. From 1 July 2018, farmers can apply to the RIC for the Commonwealth’s farm business concessional loans: AgriStarter Loan, Farm Investment Loan, Drought Loan, AgBiz Drought Loan, Plantation Loan. NSW Quad Bike Safety Improvement Program funded by SafeWork NSW
Quad Bike and SSV Safety rebates

You may be eligible for a maximum of $2,000 safety rebate, if you own or operate a farm or business that uses quad bikes or an SSV.

Also available is a $500 safety rebate for one drone, or $90 rebate towards the purchase of a protective helmet.

Farm Household Allowance

Income Support for eligible farmers and their partners for up to four years. Contact the Farmer Assistance Hotline on 132 316, or contact the Rural Financial Counselling Service on 1800 686 175.

Taxation Measures

Primary producers can immediately deduct the cost of fodder storage assets, such as silos and hay sheds used to store grain and other animal feed storage. There are a number of tax offsets, tax deductions and concessional treatments. For more information contact the ATO business enquiries line on 13 28 66.
